Location Limpopo, Limpopo, South Africa Job Type Permanent, Full-Time Primary Industry Travel, Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality Secondary Industry Travel, Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality Job Description The Iron Launder Operator is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of laundry pressing and ironing equipment within a hospitality environment. This role ensures that all linen, uniforms, and other fabric items are pressed and finished to the highest quality standards, contributing to an excellent guest experience. The operator maintains machinery, adheres to health and safety regulations, and supports the laundry team to meet daily production targets. Key Duties and Responsibilities * Operate industrial ironing and pressing machines in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines. * Inspect linen and fabric items for stains, damages, or defects prior to ironing and report any issues. * Ensure all items are pressed to meet quality standards, paying close attention to detail and fabric type. * Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the ironing area to promote a safe working environment. * Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on ironing and pressing equipment to ensure operational efficiency. * Collaborate with laundry personnel to manage workflow and prioritise tasks effectively. * Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, including the correct use of personal protective equipment. * Record and report any equipment malfunctions or hazards to the supervisor promptly. * Contribute to the continuous improvement of laundry processes and quality assurance procedures. Required Qualifications * Basic literacy and numeracy skills. * Formal training or certification in laundry operations or related field is advantageous but not essential. Education Completion of secondary education or equivalent is preferred. Experience * Previous experience working in a laundry or similar environment, preferably within the hospitality sector, is desirable. * Experience operating industrial ironing and pressing machinery is advantageous. Knowledge and Skills * Understanding of fabric types and appropriate ironing techniques. * Ability to operate and maintain industrial laundry equipment safely and efficiently. * Attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishing standards. * Good organisational skills to manage workload and meet deadlines. * Basic mechanical aptitude for routine equipment maintenance. * Awareness of health and safety practises within a laundry environment. * Effective communication skills to follow instructions and report issues clearly. Preferred Qualifications * Certification in health and safety or industrial laundry operations. * Experience in a high-volume laundry setting. Working Conditions The role requires standing for extended periods and working in a warm environment due to the nature of the ironing equipment. The operator may be required to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, to meet operational demands. Personal protective equipment is provided and must be worn at all times.
