Job description
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the overall transport and fleet operation, aligning performance with business objectives.
* Manage and develop Fleet Supervisors, Controllers and driver teams.
* Optimize route planning, scheduling, fleet utilization and turnaround times.
* Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, RTMS and safety standards.
* Drive fleet performance across uptime, fuel efficiency, maintenance costs and profitability.
* Manage departmental budgets, cost controls and financial performance.
* Maintain strong client relationships and SLA performance.
* Lead recruitment, performance management and staff development.
* Prepare and present operational and financial reports to senior leadership.
* Identify opportunities for fleet growth, process improvement and technology adoption.
Experience Required
* 8–10 years’ transport/logistics experience, including 3–5 years in senior management.
* Proven leadership of multi-level teams within heavy vehicle transport operations.
* Strong commercial, budgeting and cost-management skills.
* Sound knowledge of road transport legislation, RTMS and safety compliance.
* PBS vehicle operations experience advantageous.
* Experience with fleet management and telematics systems.
* Strong client and SLA management experience.
* Matric essential; relevant tertiary qualification advantageous.
* Valid driver’s license.
