“Freelance” Senior Brand Design Lead (E-commerce)
Location: Remote (Global – South Africa & LATAM preferred)
Salary: $1,500 - $2,000 USD/month
Working Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week) (Core hours: 8 AM – 5 PM CEST)
Timezone: Flexible with Minimum 3-hour overlap with CEST

About the Role:
Are you ready to raise the bar on brand aesthetics and set a new visual standard? As our Art Director, you will act as the ultimate craftsmanship authority, translating our brand’s soul into a market-dominating look. We are looking for a visionary who can bridge the gap between "good" design and "affordable premium" excellence.
This is an independent contractor position for a high-growth German e-commerce leader in the office furniture and ergonomics space. While you function as a core member of the team, you enjoy the autonomy of a remote setup.
Your Mission
* Establish the "Signature Look": Define and enforce a cohesive visual language across Photo, Video, and UI. Your goal is to measurably increase brand desire, CTR, and conversion rates within your first six months.
* Visual Asset Transformation: Strategically "upcycle" existing CGI and photography while directing the creation of new assets. You ensure seamless brand continuity while maximizing production efficiency.
* Creative Excellence & Gatekeeping: Serve as the final visual authority for all touchpoints—from high-impact Meta Ads to our Digital Flagship Store.
* Mentorship & AI Innovation: Raise the team’s output through technical guidance and "high-taste" mentorship. You will proactively integrate AI-driven workflows (MidJourney, Firefly) to keep the brand at the industry’s cutting edge.
Your Profile
* Experience: 5–7+ years in premium/lifestyle branding, ideally within an agency or a high-growth in-house environment.
* Education: You hold a degree in Communication Design, Visual Communication, Brand Design, Fine Arts, Digital Design or a comparable field
* Market Insight: Prior experience working with German brands or clients. You should understand the cultural nuances, design aesthetics, and consumer behavior of the German market.
* Technical Mastery: Expert-level skills in typography, grid systems, composition, and lighting. You operate with a "pixel-perfect" mindset.
* Tool Stack: Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Lightroom for color grading), Figma, and AI tools like MidJourney or Adobe Firefly. Experience with Google Workspace is a plus.
* Strategic Mindset: You don't just "make things pretty"—you understand how design drives trust and conversion throughout the customer journey.
* Creative Conviction: You are comfortable challenging mediocrity, saying "no" to protect brand integrity, and providing hands-on guidance to junior designers.
* Communication: Fluent English is required. You excel at translating abstract brand values into concrete visual guidelines.
