Ndifuna Ukwazi (NU) is a social justice organisation focused on advancing constitutional rights and urban land justice in South Africa.
This 12-month internship offers graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in legal support, research, and community-based education, particularly in housing and land rights.
Internship Details
* Position: Law Intern
* Duration: 12 months
* Start Date: 01 June 2026
* End Date: 31 May 2027
* Monthly Stipend: R13,500
* Location: Cape Town
Key Responsibilities
Interns will be involved in:
* Case management and paralegal support in the Housing Clinic
* Legal research for litigation and advocacy
* Supporting campaigns and submissions
* Facilitating educational programmes (Advice Assemblies, Land & Housing School)
* Developing legal education materials
* Administrative support
* Building relationships with courts and stakeholders
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
* Degree-level education or relevant paralegal training
* Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Additional Requirements
* Commitment to social justice and human rights
* Ability to work independently and in a team
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure
Advantage:
* isiXhosa and/or Afrikaans language skills
Preferred Candidates
Preference will be given to applicants with:
* Experience in land and housing rights
* Background in civil society or activism
* Strong commitment to social justice work
