Job description
Roles and Responsibilities
* Administer and manage the construction contract in accordance with its terms and conditions.
* Maintain accurate site records, correspondence, progress reports, drawings registers, and site instructions.
* Prepare payment certificates, measure quantities, and manage variation orders.
* Ensure compliance with design principles and report discrepancies in contract documents.
* Oversee quality assurance and ensure all works are executed safely and in accordance with specifications.
* Verify contractor setting-out accuracy and ensure proper materials testing.
* Act as the Employer’s Site Agent and manage stakeholder relationships.
* Facilitate communication between the Engineer, Employer, and Contractor.
* Conduct site meetings and maintain formal records.
* Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior staff while maintaining professional development.
Knowledge and Skills
* Strong understanding of construction contract administration and project management principles.
* Sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards, regulations, and statutory requirements.
* Technical expertise in road construction and infrastructure projects.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Education
* Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech).
Experience
* Minimum of 8 years’ experience in SANRAL or Provincial Roads projects.
* Proven technical background in road construction supervision and contract management.
Qualifications
* Professional Registration with a recognized engineering body.
* Ongoing participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
