Trade/Artisans/Technical - Trade/Artisan/Technical Management Western Cape CONTRACT Job Summary Key Responsibilities * Perform preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment. * Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults. * Attend to machinery breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime. * Maintain and troubleshoot automated plastic manufacturing and packaging equipment. * Conduct regular inspections and identify potential equipment failures. * Perform root-cause analysis on recurring breakdowns and implement corrective actions. * Install, commission and modify machinery and production equipment. * Assist with planned maintenance shutdowns and major maintenance projects. * Read and interpret electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals. * Maintain and troubleshoot motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, sensors, drives and control systems. * Assist with PLC fault-finding and automated equipment. * Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems. * Record breakdowns, maintenance activities and parts used accurately. * Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to improve machine reliability and OEE. * Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement. * Ensure compliance with all health, safety, quality and environmental requirements. Minimum Requirements * Grade 12 / Matric. * Red Seal Trade Tested Millwright. * N6 / National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering will be advantageous. * Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment. * Experience within plastic manufacturing, plastic packaging, FMCG or a high-volume production environment will be highly advantageous. * Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills. * Practical experience with pneumatics and hydraulics. * Experience with PLC-controlled machinery. * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics. * Willingness to work shifts, overtime and standby when required.
