IT/Computer - Electronics Western Cape FULL TIME Job Summary Our client, a leading technology innovator within the semiconductor and embedded systems space, is seeking an Embedded Firmware & Hardware Engineer to join their multidisciplinary engineering team in Paarl. This role offers the opportunity to work across the complete product development lifecycle, including firmware architecture, hardware integration, wireless connectivity, system validation, production support, and product optimization. The successful candidate will be involved in developing advanced embedded solutions utilizing technologies such as ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), sensor interfaces, LED driver systems, and real-time embedded firmware. Education: * BEng or MEng in Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification. Job Experience & Skills Required: * 4 to 10 years of embedded firmware development experience. * Proven experience developing firmware for embedded microcontrollers such as STM32, Nordic nRF, Microchip PIC, AVR, or ESP32. * Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python. * Experience using Git and collaborative software development methodologies. * Knowledge of firmware release management and version control practices. * Strong understanding of communication protocols including UART, SPI, I²C, USB, and CAN. * Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), wireless communication protocols, and RF fundamentals. * Practical hardware debugging and troubleshooting experience. * Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other laboratory equipment. * Experience with embedded debugging tools such as JTAG and SWD. * Sound understanding of analogue and digital circuit design. * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. * Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams. Advantageous Skills: * Experience with RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or ThreadX. * Exposure to automated testing and CI/CD environments. * Experience developing battery-powered and low-power products. * Knowledge of EMC/EMI compliance requirements. * Manufacturing support and design-for-manufacture experience. * Exposure to mobile applications or gateway systems interacting with embedded devices.…
