Engineering - Electrical Engineering Johannesburg North FULL TIME Job Summary ? Key Responsibilities * Perform routine maintenance and calibration of protection devices, metering equipment, and switching devices (LV & MV). * Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of protection faults. * Carry out equipment repairs, replacements, and wiring for protection systems and switchgear. * Lead installation and configuration of protection relays, control systems, and metering equipment using OEM software. * Oversee FAT, SAT, and site commissioning of switchgear, protection, control, and metering systems, including relay testing, transformer tests, fault simulations, and communication checks. * Support MV/HV switching operations and isolation procedures in line with site standards. * Mentor and coach junior engineers, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. ? Qualifications & Experience * BTech or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering. * Professional Registration with ECSA advantageous. * ORHVS certification required. * 5+ years’ experience in: + Testing & commissioning of protection systems and switchgear (380V – 33kV). + Fault finding and troubleshooting on electrical systems (380V – 33kV). + Repairs, replacements, and wiring of protection systems and switchgear. + Routine maintenance of protection, control, and metering systems. + Familiarity with test equipment (digital secondary injection sets, CB analysers, ductors, thermal imaging, etc.). * Strong understanding of MV mining networks, protection principles, and communication protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, etc.).
