Retail - Retail Manufacturing Durban CONTRACT Job Summary The successful candidate will take ownership of mechanical maintenance, oversee complex fault-finding, and implement effective preventive maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Technical Maintenance & Fault-Finding * Maintain, diagnose, and repair textile machinery, including: + Carding machines + Cutting machines + Sewing machines + Pinsonic (ultrasonic) machines + Pillow stuffing/filling machines + Quilting machines + Flatbed machines * Lead complex fault-finding and ensure optimal machine performance * Set and adjust machines according to product and material requirements Team Leadership * Guide and support a team of mechanics and assistants * Allocate work and manage daily maintenance priorities * Ensure quick turnaround on breakdowns and minimise downtime * Mentor and develop junior team members Preventive Maintenance & Planning * Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules * Maintain accurate service, repair, and inspection records * Work closely with production to align maintenance with operational needs Safety & Compliance * Ensure adherence to health and safety standards * Conduct routine inspections and risk assessments * Promote a strong safety culture within the team Minimum Requirements * Matric plus a recognised Mechanical qualification (Trade Test, NTC/N6 or equivalent) * Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior mechanical role within a Textile or Clothing Manufacturing environment (essential) * Strong experience in mechanical fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance * Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics Skills & Competencies * Strong leadership and team guidance ability * Advanced mechanical troubleshooting skills * High attention to detail and strong organisational skills * Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines * Proactive, hands-on, and safety-conscious Additional Requirements * Ability to support operational demands in a fast-paced manufacturing environment * Strong commitment to quality, uptime, and continuous improvement Innovazi Consulting (Pty) Ltd Recruiter
