Our client, based in Stellenbosch, operates vineyards across the broader Cape Winelands region and is seeking a Farm Manager focused exclusively on wine grape production. This role is well suited to an early-career viticulturist who is passionate about wine grapes, and eager to grow and develop within a structured viticulture environment.
The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Head Viticulturist and will gain hands-on exposure across multiple sites.
Duties will include (but not limited to): \*Day-to-day management of allocated wine grape vineyards across the Winelands region \*Execution of vineyard activities in line with instructions and plans set by the Head Viticulturist \*Monitoring vine health, growth stages, irrigation, and general vineyard conditions \*Assisting with crop planning, pruning programs, canopy management, and harvest preparation \*Supervising and coordinating seasonal and permanent vineyard labour \*Ensuring vineyards are maintained according to quality, productivity, and sustainability standards \*Identifying and reporting vineyard issues such as pests, diseases, or stress factors \*Maintaining accurate records related to vineyard activities and inputs \*Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and farm operational standards \*All other tasks related to the role.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
• A relevant tertiary qualification in viticulture or agriculture will be advantageous;
• At least 3–6 years’ experience in wine grape viticulture;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• In-depth knowledge of agricultural best practices and emerging trends;
• Willingness to travel between vineyards across the Winelands region;
• Valid driver’s licence.
