IT/Computer - Other IT/Computer Johannesburg FULL TIME Job Summary Senior Engineer (JHB) Engineering/Technical Johannesburg - Gauteng - South Africa ENVIRONMENT: A leading independent engineering firm based in Randburg is seeking a Senior Engineer to take charge of project planning, design, and execution. The ideal candidate will oversee both consulting and in-house engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence across all project phases. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving analytical calculations, simulations, CAD models, and manufacturing drawings. Applicants should hold a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 24 years experience in mechanical design, ideally within heavy steel or materials handling environments. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (assemblies, sheet metal, and weldments) is essential. DUTIES: * Setting up of project requirements and schedules. * Scope generation. * Manage multiple complex projects at the same time. * Ensure their designs meet manufacturing, technical and customer requirements. * Ensure that all design projects are completed within budget and time. * Task delegation, tracking and reporting. * Management of the engineering team. * Interaction with clients. * Site visits and commissioning. * Strongly focused on project management and design from conception to completion. * Strong design and mechanical, structural analysis competency including FEA. * Supervise both mechanical engineers and draftsman within their own project scope as well as others. * Ability to conduct structural analysis on chassis design concepts. REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. * 10 years work experience in relevant field of engineering and management. * Experience in Materials Handling, Modular Structures and Mobile Mining Equipment working as a lead engineer. * CAD experience (Solidworks). * Work using a product management system (PDM, Team Centre). * Hands on experience with mining machinery. * Proficient in office products such as teams, excel and word.
