PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide supportive social services under the supervision of a Social Worker by assisting with casework, community interventions and access of resources with the aim of improving the well-being and social functioning of youth and families.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assessment and Admission
Participate in the multi-disciplinary team assessments and screening processes for GBT your applications.
Assess each youth using GBT assessment tools and models.
Manage allocated assessment caseload.
Participate in the Campus Assessment Panel process and outcomes.
Intervention Process
Implement assigned tasks as they arise from the IDP in accordance with the Children’s Act and Minimum Standards.
Submit family and other information to Senior Social Worker timeously in their completion of State required feedback reports.
Employ all professional, GBT training skills and methods in achieving treatment objectives.
Network with external services and intervention specialists where necessary to develop functional families.
Administration and General Duties
Ensure that the contents of the family files meet with the requirements of the Children’s Act and the GBT policies and procedures.
Ensure that documentation and process notes are available and easily accessible in each file.
Complete a monthly planning schedule, making it available to the Senior Social Worker.
Keep to schedule dates and meet all deadlines, including timeous submission of all DSD documentation and GBT statistical and Quality Service requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications
Matric (Grade 12) qualification
Social Auxiliary Work qualification
Registered with SACSSP with proof of current membership
Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with Youth
Knowledge of the Children’s Act and Justice system
Personality, Attributes and Abilities
Work both independently and as an active team member
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences
Maintain professional demeanour while exercising judgment and discretion in work
