Job Summary
Junior CNC Operator - R72 .85 ph (3 Months contract)
Key Responsibilities:
* CNC Machine Operation
+ Operate CNC machines according to approved machining programs and production requirements.
+ Ensure components are correctly positioned in the jaws or chuck device before engaging the machine cycle.
+ Maintain a continuous flow of components from stock to the machine to avoid production interruptions.
+ Ensure machining is performed within the approved cycle times.
* Operational Discipline and Safety
+ Be familiar with the correct operating practices related to the specific machine(s) and work cell.
+ Remain alert while operating the machine at all times.
+ Avoid distractions or unnecessary discussions while the machine is in operation.
+ Ensure all safety devices are operational at the start of the shift and throughout production.
* Quality Responsibility
+ No machining may take place without first-off approval and signature from the Setter and Inspector after a machine reset or setup.
+ Be aware of all critical dimensions and the correct use of go and no-go gauges.
+ The Setter will produce the initial components and inspect them together with the Operator before full production begins.
+ Once in full production, the Operator is responsible for the quality and quantity of machined components.
+ Conduct visual and gauge inspections on each component removed from the machine.
+ Ensure only good-quality machined components are placed into crates.
+ Inspect components in each layer within the crate using the available gauges and complete the Recon sheet hourly.
+ Report any deviations or quality concerns immediately to the Production Supervisor.
+ When unsure about gauges, dimensions, or any part of the machining process, consult the Setter or Production Supervisor before continuing.
* Machine Care and Housekeeping
+ Ensure lubrication and coolant systems are operational and functioning efficiently before and during machining operations.
+ Remove shavings/chips at regular intervals to prevent blockages or machine issues.
+ Clean the machine and work cell daily at the end of the shift.
+ Clean and de-burr machined components before placing them into crates.
* Reporting and Communication
+ Report any worn machine parts, equipment issues, or abnormal machine behavior to the Production Supervisor.
+ Report machine breakdowns or maintenance concerns promptly for repair or replacement.
