ENTERPRISE RISK PRACTITIONER
Location: Durban
Division: Enterprise Risk Management
Purpose of the Role
To develop, maintain, manage and execute a comprehensive process for identifying, assessing, mitigating, monitoring and reporting on risks that may impact the University’s mandate and strategy.
Minimum RequirementsQualifications
+ Relevant Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, Finance, or a related field.
+ Professional certification such as CRMA, CRM-Prac, CRM-Prof or CIA.
Experience
+ A minimum of 8 years’ experience within a fully-fledged Enterprise Risk Management environment
+ Membership in good standing with a recognised ERM professional body (e.g., IRMSA).

Minimum
+ At least 5 years’ experience in:
+ Combined Assurance Framework.
+ Risk appetite and tolerance frameworks (including implementation).
+ Business continuity management.
+ Contract management and risk identification.
+ Project management with demonstrable outcomes.
+ Engagement across multiple organisational levels.
+ Legal / Professional Requirements.
Special Requirements
+ Environmental scanning and facilitation of risk workshops.
+ Willingness to work extended hours where required.
+ Continuous learning and development mindset.
Ideal / Advantageous
+ Master’s degree in a related field
+ Experience in the Higher Education sector
+ Exposure to ERM systems and oversight structures
+ Membership with international ERM bodies (e.g., IRM, RIMS)

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
+ Develop and update ERM policies, frameworks and procedures.
+ Coordinate the Risk Champions Forum.
+ Promote a risk-aware organisational culture.
+ Facilitate risk identification across strategic, operational and project levels.
+ Develop and maintain risk registers.
+ Conduct environmental scanning and prepare risk workshop materials.
+ Provide expert risk advice across the institution.
+ Track emerging risks and align them to institutional strategy.
+ Develop reports including dashboards, KRIs, and risk appetite indicators.
+ Develop and facilitate ERM training programmes.
+ Support awareness initiatives across staff and students.
+ Provide coaching and mentoring on ERM practices.
+ Compile quarterly risk reports and combined assurance reports.
+ Monitor mitigation actions and audit recommendations.
+ Support data-driven decision-making processes.
