Our client, a diversified chemicals company, is seeking a Technical Sales Manager to drive their regional sales growth, lead and support Crop Advisors, and provide technical and agronomic expertise to customers. The role focuses on sales performance, customer relationship management, and expanding market presence while achieving sales targets.
This position is based in the Western Free State region, and requires a candidate with strong leadership ability, commercial insight, and excellent customer service and
communication skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to): \*Team Leadership: Lead and coach Crop Advisors; Set targets and monitor performance; Manage training and succession planning. \*Sales & Business Growth: Drive regional sales and meet targets; Analyse trends and spot new opportunities; Support pricing, launches, and demand planning; Build strong customer relationships. \*Technical Support: Provide agronomic and technical guidance; Run field inspections and trials; Stay updated on technology and regulations. \*Training & Development: Deliver product and crop training; Lead workshops and knowledge-sharing initiatives. \*Customer & Risk Management: Handle complaints and resolve issues; Promote safe and responsible product use. \*Reporting & Compliance: Track sales, budgets, and market intelligence; Ensure compliance and maintain accurate records.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• BSc in Agriculture / Natural Sciences or equivalent tertiary qualification;
• AVCASA / CropLife SA Basic Crop Protection accreditation;
• Minimum 5 years’ agrochemical sales experience;
• Postgraduate or specialised agronomic training advantageous;
• Experience in distributor, dealer, or channel-based sales models advantageous;
• Proficiency in MS Office and CRM system;
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transport;
• Willingness to travel and work extended hours during peak seasons.
