A well-established engineering consulting firm with a strong footprint in infrastructure development and project delivery across South Africa, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Resident Engineer to join their team in George in the Southern Cape.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage road construction projects on-site as the Resident Engineer
* Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with design specifications, quality standards, and contractual obligations
* Monitor contractor performance, progress, and compliance with safety regulations
* Review and certify contractor claims, variations, and payments
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
* Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and records
* Provide technical guidance and resolve site-related engineering issues
* Ensure adherence to SANRAL standards where applicable
Requirements
* Professional registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech, or Pr Techni (with sufficient experience)
* Proven experience as a Resident Engineer on road construction projects
* Strong knowledge of roadworks, construction methods, and site supervision
* SANRAL project experience is advantageous but not mandatory
* Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work effectively under pressure
* Valid driver’s license and willingness to be site-based in George
