Our client, a well-established business in the construction and related services industry, based in Phillipi (Cape Town), has a vacancy for a Head of Finance to join their team in a fast-paced and growth-focused environment.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, commercially astute finance professional with strong leadership capability and a hands-on approach. This role requires someone who can operate at both an executive and operational level, providing financial direction, driving performance, and supporting sustainable business growth.
Responsibilities will include (but not limited to): \*Lead and implement the company’s financial strategy in line with business objectives \*Oversee the full finance function, including financial reporting, management accounts, and cash flow forecasting \*Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes \*Provide strategic input on capital allocation, project feasibility, and expansion opportunities \*Monitor project profitability, job costing, and cost controls across divisions \*Support tendering processes with financial input and risk assessments \*Ensure compliance with South African tax regulations and financial reporting standards \*Manage internal and external audits and maintain strong financial controls \*Lead and develop the finance team \*Drive financial accountability and provide insights to senior management and stakeholders \*Improve financial systems, reporting tools, and process efficiencies \*Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and funding partners \*Lead funding initiatives and support business growth strategies \*All other tasks related to the role.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field;
• CA (SA) and/or MBA qualification will be advantageous but not essential;
• Proven experience at senior or executive level is essential;
• Experience within construction or related industries will be highly advantageous;
• Demonstrated experience in scaling or building a business and managing large teams;
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;
• High level of computer literacy and experience with financial systems.
