Job Summary
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
* Must be in possession of a Matric Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent.
* At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a forestry environment.
* A relevant tertiary qualification would be an advantage.
* Must be able to speak and communicate effectively in Xhosa.
* Must be willing to work additional hours as and when required.
* Should be able to promote effective team spirit by good leadership.
* Must be organized and systematic in the performance of duties.
* Must use initiative and be able to find novel ways to deal with challenges.
* Should have good interpersonal and communications skills.
* Required skill set; Supervision, Coaching, Managing Processes, Process Improvement, Tracking Expenses, Production Planning, Dealing with Complexity.
JOB DESCRIPTION
* Supervise production staff under your supervision and ensure that they adhere to production procedures and that production targets are achieved.
* Record daily production performance schedule and report to the relevant people.
* Supervise the use of company property and equipment under your control.
* Ensure that all equipment have logbooks and checklists and that these are completed as per the company standard.
* Ensure the timely maintenance of company equipment under your control.
* Quality control:
* Ensure the correct log lengths optimisation is achieved.
* Ensure that the correct colour code and numbering system is used.
* Ensure correct processing is done for each log.
* Assist in production procedures when required, i.e.: log marking, operating machines, etc.
* Accurate completion of staff time sheets on a weekly basis.
* Apply corrective disciplinary procedures, fairly and in a progressive manner
* Monitor and report buffer stock every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning before 9am.
* Monitor the age of timber stacks and report if timber is 3 weeks or older.
* Ensure that all safety standards and procedures are adhered to by the team under your supervision.
* Operate machinery when required.
* Ensure back-up operators are trained and ready at all times.
* Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
* Ensure operatorsand safety personnel are certified at all times.
