Position Summary:
The Inventory Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and fully reconciled inventory records across all physical and system locations within the plant. The role safeguards inventory integrity by enforcing transactional discipline, executing cycle counts and physical inventories, managing discrepancies, and ensuring alignment between physical stock, ERP systems, and financial records.
This position is critical to supporting uninterrupted production, customer delivery performance, audit readiness, and SOX-compliant financial reporting
Duties and Responsibilities:
Inventory Accuracy & Control
* Maintain accurate on-hand balances for all inventory locations in the ERP system.
* Ensure 100% alignment between physical stock and system records.
* Control and validate all inventory adjustments, ensuring proper authorization, documentation, and reason codes.
* Identify, prevent, and resolve negative stock situations.
Cycle Counting & Physical Inventory
* Develop and execute weekly and monthly cycle count plans in line with ABC / ABCDE classification.
* Ensure blind counts, recounts, and variance validation are completed within required timelines.
* Perform root cause analysis for discrepancies and document corrective actions.
* Support and execute full physical inventory processes, including system freeze, counting, reconciliation, and post-count adjustments.
Inventory Reconciliation & Variance Management
* Investigate inventory discrepancies, including loose stock, serialized mismatches, and out-of-tolerance variances.
* Compile Inventory Reconciliation Checklists with full supporting evidence.
* Track and report top inventory gains and losses and support corrective action closure.
Inventory Aging, Obsolescence & Quality
* Prepare and distribute regular inventory aging reports.
* Coordinate actions with Warehouse, Production, Quality, and Planning teams to address aged, slow-moving, or obsolete stock.
* Support balance-out, obsolescence, scrap, and claims processes as required.
Transactional Discipline & Compliance
* Enforce real-time system transactions for all material movements (receipts, issues, transfers, scrap, returns).
* Act as an authorization authority where physical stock cannot be verified, in line with Logistics Commitment rules.
* Ensure adherence to BOS, MOS, internal control, and SOX requirements.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Communication
* Work closely with Warehouse Supervisors, Material Planners, Logistics Analysts, Production, Quality, Finance, and IT.
* Escalate systemic risks, repeated discrepancies, or control breaches to Management.
* Provide accurate inventory data for audits, management reviews, and investigations.
