SU - Tax Manager
Role Description: The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s tax compliance, planning, and reporting processes, ensuring strict adherence to U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role involves managing tax filings, reviewing the work of tax associates, and providing strategic guidance on tax planning to minimize risks and optimize savings. The Tax Manager serves as the subject matter expert on tax matters, supporting internal stakeholders, liaising with external auditors and tax authorities, and ensuring that the organization’s tax strategy aligns with its overall financial goals. Note: Strong and up-to-date knowledge of U.S. federal taxation is required for this role. Key Responsibilities: * Oversee the preparation, review, and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns. * Manage and mentor a team of tax associates and analysts, reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance. * Conduct tax research and provide recommendations on complex U.S. federal tax issues and planning opportunities. * Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and stay updated on changes to U.S. federal and state tax laws. * Develop and implement tax strategies that optimize the company’s effective tax rate and cash flow. * Coordinate tax audits and manage communication with tax authorities. * Review and analyze financial statements for accurate tax reporting. * Assist in preparing tax provisions for financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, legal, operations) to evaluate the tax implications of business decisions. * Maintain accurate tax records, documentation, and internal controls. Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field (Master’s degree in Taxation preferred). * In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal tax regulations; state and international tax knowledge is a plus. * CPA license or progress toward CPA certification required (or equivalent professional certification). * 5+ years of progressive experience in tax, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. * Proficiency in tax preparation and accounting software (e.g., ProSeries, QuickBooks, or equivalent). * Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
