Employer: Ivanhoe Mines IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to   develop this “mine of the future”. Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills: * Grade 12 * Bachelor’s degree in environmental science / environmental management / Natural Sciences or equivalent. * IAIA registration will be beneficial * Valid Driver’s Licence Suitable candidates must have the following work experience: * Minimum 3–5 years proven experience as an Environmental Officer. * Demonstrated experience in: + Environmental inspections and enforcement + Environmental monitoring programmes + Isometrics or similar compliance systems + ISO 14001 implementation * Mining or heavy industrial experience strongly preferred. * Environmental inspections and enforcement * Environmental monitoring programmes * Isometrics or similar compliance systems * Mining or heavy industrial experience strongly preferred * Waste Management The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to: * Conduct daily inspections across operational areas. * Identify environmental non-compliances and immediately engage responsible supervisors. * Issue corrective action recommendations and record findings on Isometrics. * Follow up daily on outstanding actions until closure. * Report unsafe or non-compliant environmental practices where necessary and escalate to Environmental Coordinator * Conduct and oversee environmental monitoring. * Ensure sampling procedures follow approved protocols. * Verify laboratory submissions and chain-of-custody compliance. * Immediately report exceedances or abnormal results. * Capture inspection findings, monitoring data and incidents onto Isometrics. * Upload monitoring results accurately and within required timeframes. * Responding to environmental incidents * Conduct preliminary investigations and gather evidence. * Ensure immediate containment measures are implemented. * Log incidents and corrective actions on Isometrics. * Provide immediate on-the-job coaching to supervisors and contractors during daily inspections. * Explain environmental non-compliances and associated legal/license implications. * Conduct toolbox talks focused on recurring environmental findings. * Promote proactive environmental ownership within operational teams.
